WGS 2024: Astana Civil Service Hub participated in a Ministerial roundtable on "Shaping Future Governments"
On 12-14 February, Alikhan Baimenov, Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Astana Civil Service Hub, participated in the World Government Summit in Dubai, UAE. During the Summit, a Ministerial roundtable on "Shaping Future Governments" was held with the support of ACSH focusing on empowering A.I. to improve the work of governments.
Mr. Baimenov, presenting the results of the recent survey on AI development conducted by the ACSH, emphasized the irreversible nature of artificial intelligence in governance. He also focused on the ethical and legal aspects of this process, outlining that artificial intelligence should serve the benefit of all citizens. In addition, he highlighted the importance of developing national and international legislation, as well as partnerships at all levels.
The roundtable provided an inclusive platform for Ministers and high officials responsible for digitalization representing Central Asia, Caucasus, Asia- Pacific, Latin America, Africa, as well as heads of international organizations, policymakers, and experts to deliberate on issues such as integrating AI into education, engaging with the private sector, establishing regulatory frameworks, and addressing ethical aspects.
Following the tradition of international events, bilateral meetings were held with the Administrator of the UNDP Mr. Achim Steiner, Executive Director of Government Solutions International Mr. Guido Bertucci, as well as representatives from the governments of the Philippines, Laos, Uruguay, Colombia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan. During these meetings, parties exchanged views on current issues and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation.
