Astana Civil Service Hub actively participates at the World Government Summit 2026

The Astana Civil Service Hub (ACSH) actively participated in the World Government Summit (WGS) 2026, held in Dubai on 3–5 February, contributing to high-level discussions on the future of governance under the theme “Shaping Future Governments: Achievements and Challenges in the Global South.” The Summit brought together ministers, senior government officials, policymakers, and experts from across regions.

As part of the official programme, ACSH contributed to two high-level Ministerial Roundtables, sharing Global South perspectives on public sector modernization, innovation, and governance reforms. The roundtables convened ministers, heads of civil service institutions, and leaders of international and regional organizations to exchange experiences and discuss emerging challenges and opportunities for future-ready governments.

Representing ACSH, Mr. Alikhan Baimenov, Chairman of the Steering Committee, highlighted the increasing role of the Global South as a source of practical governance solutions and policy innovation. He emphasized the importance of sustained interregional cooperation and proposed new collaborative initiatives, including the preparation of joint annual progress reviews on governance developments across the Global South, to be published and presented annually during the World Government Summit.

In addition, ACSH organized a joint high-level side event, “AI for Future Governments: Country Experiences and Practices,” bringing together senior government officials from Central Asia, the Caucasus, and the Asia-Pacific. The session provided a platform for exchanging practical experiences on applying artificial intelligence to modernize public administration, enhance service delivery, and strengthen public trust. The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) and the National Information Society Agency (NIA) of the Republic of Korea, UNDP Kazakhstan, and ACSH, within the framework of an interregional initiative covering 12 countries.

On the margins of the Summit, a bilateral meeting was held between H.E. Faisal Saeed Binbutti Al Mheiri, Director General of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources of the UAE, and Mr. Alikhan Baimenov, focusing on potential cooperation in civil service human resource management and professional capacity building.

In addition, ACSH delegation participated in a consultative meeting of leading regional and international public administration organizations, such as Governance Solutions International, ASPA, AAPAM, CLAD, and EROPA to discuss future joint activities and coordination in advancing public administration reforms and professional networks across regions. Throughout the Summit, the ACSH delegation held bilateral meetings with ministers and senior representatives from Dominican Republic, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Peru, the Philippines, Serbia, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, exploring opportunities for enhanced cooperation and engagement in ACSH initiatives.
