As such, open government data are considered key contributors to good governance, digital innovation, and economic development for a variety of reasons. Open data policies and practices increase transparency of government and enhance citizens’ right to access to public information and their potential participation and interaction in the policy decision making domain. Equally, open data policies and practices foster accountability for providing information to citizens about what their governments are doing.
